CreativeMornings, a monthly breakfast lecture series for the creative community.
The evenings of winter 2016 felt pretty endless, I watched a lot of low value tv before I decided to do something better with that time, and that better thing was bringing CreativeMornings to our wonderful windy Wellington.
CreativeMornings is a monthly breakfast lecture series for the creative community, currently hosted in 180 cities across the globe and aims to bring creatives together for networking and an inspiring talk each month, all for free!
At the time I was in a role I had outgrown and I knew that I wanted to spend time doing some that was going to be a learning curve for myself, but be beneficial for my industry and local creative community. I popped in an application to CreativeMornings HQ in New York and a few months later CreativeMornings Wellington (CMWLG) was born.
My role as Chapter Host at CMWLG is to run and organise our events, this includes finding speakers, securing and maintaining partnerships and supporting my wonderful team of volunteers to deliver our events each month.
I wanted to create a place for people to come together for inspiration, learning and connection every month. Our city is small, but wonderful and allows us to know more people at a deeper level, both personally and professionally.
CMWLG has allowed me to meet so many amazing people, and i've been able to add a little sparkle to their Friday mornings each month complete with coffee and donuts!
I am shortly handing over the reigns of my "baby" as I prepare to move to the UK. After an amazing 18 months the chapter is ready for some fresh ideas and leadership.
I started off unsure but determined, and now I'm just chuffed!
